tms receives Planet Mark certification for third year

Planet Mark slogan over trees

We’re proud to have received the Planet Mark certification for the third year in a row. This globally recognized sustainability certification underscores our commitment to continuous improvement in measuring and reducing our carbon emissions, energy and water consumption, travel, and waste.

Like last year, we calculated the carbon footprint — including our electricity, natural gas, and water use, T&D losses, waste levels, business travel, paper used, and amount of homeworking — across our offices around the world in London, Stockley Park, Duisburg, Chicago, Downers Grove, Shanghai, Singapore, and Paris. We achieved the Planet Mark for maintaining a reduction in 5% emissions annually.

Amy Zettlemoyer-Lazar, our VP, Global Sustainability and Innovation, said:

“While we’ve been able to achieve reductions in energy consumption and waste, it was partially due to the pandemic. However, the data collection efforts and the certification wouldn’t be possible without a large data gathering exercise supported by Office Services and Finance individuals.”

Without robust data collection and reporting we wouldn’t be able to share our results with Planet Mark. Key measurements included:

  • -40.6% absolute carbon reduction
  • -42.8% carbon reduction per employee
  • 761.7 tCO2e total carbon footprint
  • 0.7 tCO2e carbon footprint per employee

As the world opens back up and business travel and in-office work begin to increase, we’ll still be keeping sustainability top of mind and taking action to continue reducing our carbon footprint in line with Planet Mark commitments and wider Better Future Blueprint goals. This includes encouraging flexible work, choosing conscious travel choices, increasing office energy-efficiency, reducing waste, and upping our recycling efforts.

Alongside our parent company HAVI and its business units, we’re on the path to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and achieve zero waste to landfill in owned/direct operations by 2025. Keep an eye out for more to come on how we’re celebrating World Clean Up Day and making big local impacts around the world.
